Josephine Cochrane’s big idea was using water pressure instead of scrubbers to clean. The Activity: Fill a large glass jar with water, a squirt of dish soap, and some "dirty" items (plastic toy plates or coins covered in washable marker). The Mission: Instead of touching the items, have the kids stir the water as fast as they can with a spoon to create a vortex. Watch the dirt fly off!
