Yes. Wushka’s reading program aligns to the English curriculum. Wushka provides teachers with a means of using digital technologies to complement classroom practice.
As stated in the Australian curriculum*, literacy programs help students to ‘learn to listen to, read, view, speak, write, create and reflect on increasingly complex and sophisticated spoken, written and multimodal texts across a growing range of contexts with accuracy, fluency and purpose’. Wushka provides a safe program where students can feel free to experiment and make mistakes on this journey and where teachers can easily monitor their ongoing progress.
The School Readers within the Wushka Program have been carefully aligned to different reading levels from Magenta (Levels 1-2) through to Black (Levels 31 ++) and they follow a reading recovery-like structure. The different colour reading boxes cater for a range of abilities so that you can select the most appropriate School Readers for your students’ needs.

Use the back button to return to the cover of the Reader.

How are the quizzes relevant to the reading level?
As the School Readers become more advanced, so do the questions. Lower level quizzes use questions that determine recall and a basic understanding of the main ideas and concepts found within the text. Quizzes then progress into prompting students to apply and analyse knowledge. In the highest levels, students are provided with questions that encourage synthesis and evaluation of hypothetical scenarios related to the text. All quiz questions are structured around the Bloom’s hierarchical model of questioning.
