How do I navigate the pages of a School Reader?
You can navigate the School Reader, without narration, using the arrows on either side of the page. Narration begins once you have pressed the narrate button, text will be highlighted and pages will turn automatically. If you manually turn the page, and would like to continue narration, you will simply need to press the narrate button to start the narration again. Use the back button to return to the cover of the School Reader.
How is the narration read?
Depending on the reading level of the School Reader, the narration is read word-by-word, sentence-by-sentence or paragraph-by-paragraph. The words are highlighted as the narration is read, and the pages turn automatically. If you would like to remain on a page longer than the narration accounts for, press the pause button.
How do the quizzes on the completion of a School Reader work?
On the completion of a School Reader, students are required to complete multiple choice questions that assess their comprehension level. If the quizzes are not appearing, your child’s teacher may have elected to turn off the quizzes for developmental reasons.
How are the quizzes relevant to the reading level?
As the School Readers become more advanced, so do the questions. Lower level quizzes use questions that determine recall and a basic understanding of the main ideas and concepts found within the text. Quizzes then progress into prompting students to apply and analyse knowledge. In the highest levels, students are provided with questions that encourage synthesis and evaluation of hypothetical scenarios related to the text. All quiz questions are structured around Bloom’s hierarchical model of questioning.
